She was born on 28 October 1955 at Madras, Tamil Nadu State, India. Received her Bachleor's Degrees in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and later on continued her studies at India Institute of Management Calcutta in Post Graduate Programme (MBA).
She joined PepsiCo since 1994, became the CFO in 2001, and later on acted as President and CEO in 2006.
